As one of the more popular executive sedans in the market, the BMW 5 Series tends to get some unwanted attention, but what took place at Fleming Beach in Victoria, Canada, during the early hours of Thursday is baffling, to say the least.
Victoria police were called to the Fleming Beach boat launch at around 5 a.m. Thursday morning by local fisherman that discovered a late, grey-green colored BMW 5-Series sitting around 30 metres (close to 100 feet) from shore.
“Our officers went initially. They took a look in the car and didn’t see anything suspicious but called the dive team just in case,” said police spokesman Const. Mike Russell.
“The dive team attended, looked over the car and again didn’t see anything suspicious. So we had it towed out and we’re just now investigating and following up with the registered owner to see what the issue is,” Russell added.
According to the police, the BMW belongs to a North Vancouver man who was visiting a friend at the time and had parked his car nearby. The unnamed man had not reported the car stolen by the time officers found it in the sea.
