Nissan’s GT-R GT3 entered its maiden race in the fourth round of the Blancpain Endurance Series. Developed by Nissan’s tuning and racing division, NISMO, and JR Motorsports, the GT-R competes in the GT3 series which includes production-based models such as Audi’s R8, the Porsche 911 and the McLaren MP4-12C.

The JR Motorsports entry proved to be reliable and competitive right from the start. It ran faultlessly for three hours completing 98 laps and crossing the finishing line in eighth place overall, and sixth in its class, out of 35 entries.

Development of the GT3 version of the GT-R begun a little over a year ago and until now, it has been through a lot of testing before its first race at Magny Cours. The GT-R GT3’s driver, Richard Westbrook, commented, “The car run like clockwork – I had to remind myself that this was its first race”, while his team mate, David Brabham, added that the Nissan “is so easy to drive, it doesn’t take long to dial yourself into a good rhythm.”
