Earlier this week, our scoop photographers caught up with the facelifted versions of the Renault Megane hatchback and Sports Tourer during testing. However, we were not able to peek through Renault’s full suite of plastic armor.

Fortunately for us, our diligent spies were able to discover a different prototype wearing much less camouflage. This time, the 2012 Megange hatchback was only covered with black duct tape.

Since it’s a mid-life facelift, the bodywork of the new Megane is mostly identical to that of the current model. It does however sport a revised front end with reworked headlamps and grille opening, as per the Twingo facelift that was launched last week at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Though it’s too early for Renault to release any information, we expect the new Megane to feature subtle improvements in the interior while carrying over the current version’s engine line-up.
