Just when you felt life was getting a little bit mundane, along comes this video to remind you that anything can happen in this crazy world.
A Florida highway patrol trooper who was identified by the Miami Herald daily as D.J. Watts, is making headlines today after a dash cam video showed her arresting a fellow Miami officer in a marked police car for –wait for it- speeding!
The footage shows Watts chasing Miami Police Officer Fausto López, 35, after he repeatedly ignored her warnings to stop and drove to speeds of up to 120mph (193km/h) on Florida’s Turnpike in Broward County.
The chase lasted several minutes before López finally decided to stop. Watts then pulled her gun and handcuffed the speeding cop who justified his actions by saying that he was running late to running late for an off-duty 7 a.m. job at a school.
The incident took place on October 11, 2011.
Miami police told El Nuevo Herald that they are investigating the case.
“We learned of the incident the day it happened and immediately sent our internal affairs officers to contact the Florida Highway Patrol,” said Manuel Orosa, acting Miami police chief. “We are investigating administratively.”
