Raw footage from a police car dashcam shows a scary pileup that occurred in the beginning of January on Interstate 77 near Pike Township in Ohio.

What happened? Ohio State Trooper Jim Donohue was on the scene trying to catch a stray dog that was wondering on the highway when drivers started stopping in the middle of the road.

“Two cars stopped safely,” Donohue told Fox 8 News. “Then, a white car came up and hit both those cars, and if you watch close enough, you can see the white car go off the road into the embankment.”

Then all hell broke loose as a large rig came and hit all the cars from behind. Astoundingly, only one person suffered some minor injuries and even he was able to walk away. The dog also escaped unhurt…

“It’s pretty amazing. And very thankful that nobody was seriously hurt,” said Donohue who added that as much as people love animals, in certain situations, it’s best to hit them than endanger many lives.

“Nobody wants to hurt an animal,” he said. “But everybody reacts differently in these situations. We’re lucky this didn’t end much worse.”
