Taking center stage at Rolls Royce’s booth at the Auto China 2012 in Beijing is the 2013 Phantom Extended Wheelbase Series II with which the British automaker completes the refreshed Phantom lineup, following the debuts of Saloon, Coupé and Drophead Coupé at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Like other Phantom Series II models, the Extended Wheelbase model features improvements in design, drivetrain and technology.
The styling makeover includes a new front-end design that drops the round auxiliary lights for new LED strips and revised front and rear aprons on the outside, while on the inside, Rolls Royce added a re-designed multi-media controller with 3D maps and a larger 8.8 inch control center display.
Under the skin, there’s a new 8-speed automatic gearbox and rear differential that do their part to improve the V12’s fuel efficiency by 10 percent on the combined cycle and drop CO2 emissions for the Extended Wheelbase from 388 to 349 g/km.
The launch of the refreshed Phantom Extended Wheelbase comes as the British luxury brand continues to grow in China, having opened three new showrooms this year, with five more to come in the near future.
“I am delighted that our discerning Chinese clients continue to value Phantom Extended Wheelbase so highly,” said Rolls Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös at the Beijing Motor Show. “And with the changes for Series II I am confident that it will continue to retain its position at the very pinnacle of the ultra-luxury goods marketplace for many years to come.”
