An accident with Ralf Schumacher’s C-Class Coupe that occurred at the pit lanes during DTM practice at Zandvoort last Friday left four Mercedes-Benz crew-members injured.
Video footage shows Michael Schumacher’s younger brother clipping an air hose with his Mercedes-Benz racecar’s wing as he was leaving the pits. The airline then snapped and struck several crew members throwing them on the ground with force and almost decapitating one of the men.
Autosport reported that four people were injured and hospitalized, with three being discharged on the same day and one remaining in the hospital overnight.
“As you know we had four of our mechanics injured yesterday in practice,” said Mercedes motorsport chief Norbert Haug.
“Three have been released from hospital and two of them have already flown home to Stuttgart. The other one is still in hospital, but will go home later. This is a big, big relief to us because our human beings are far more important than any trophies,” he added.
A video of the accident follows right past the break.
