Italian supercars are becoming increasingly hot – though, not always in the waytheir buyers expect. Manufacturers should probably double-check their assembly lines and quality control because recalls due to fire risks are close to becoming an epidemic.

This month, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a new campaign under which a total of 1,491 examples of the 2004-2006 Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe and Spyder models are being recalled in the United States.

The problem is that, in certain driving conditions (that were not specified), the high pressure steering pipes near the steering assistance hydraulic system pimp might leak. Consequently, the leaked fluid may be exposed to an ignition source and cause a fire.

Lamborghini dealers will update the power steering free of charge. Owners are being notified from September 10, but if you have any concerns, you can also contact the company at 1-866-681-6276.
