Until Fiat’s Abarth division performs its magic on the latest generation of the Panda, those looking for a sportier flavored version of the Italian city car will just have to do with whatever the independent tuning industry has to offer them.
In the case of German tuning brand Novitec, there are plenty of goods out on the table to improve both the styling and to some degree, the performance aspects of the Panda.
The company offers enhancements for two powerplants, starting with the two-cylinder 0.9-liter TwinAir petrol engine that is boosted from 84hp (85PS) to 98hp (99PS) allowing the Panda to complete the 0 to 100km/h (62mph) sprint in 10.1 seconds and top out at 188km/h (117mph).
The second power kit bumps the 1.3 16V MultiJet turbodiesel’s output from 74hp (75PS) to 90hp (91PS). With the upgrade, this model accelerates from zero to 100km/h (62mph) mph in 11.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 178km/h (111mph).
Additional hardware modifications include a sports exhaust system, a base suspension kit that lowers the ride height by 35mm or an adjustable suspension kit (30mm to 80mm) and 17-inch alloy wheels in a matte black or a silver shade wrapped in low profile sports tires.
Novitec also offers a front apron and a roof spoiler.
