The world’s fastest man, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, is putting his name on one of the fastest production cars available today, the Nissan GT-R.
As part of an extended partnership with Nissan, Bolt helped develop a one-off GT-R painted in a gold color embossed with his signature and featuring interior fittings finished in real gold.
This specific example, will hit the online auction block at eBay towards the end of November, with proceeds from the sale to benefit the Usain Bolt Foundation that creates opportunities for children and young people at his home country of Jamaica.
And that’s not all, as Nissan revealed today that the Gold Medal Olympian will soon start working with the brand’s product specialists on a limited-edition run of special GT-R models. The Bolt-branded GT-Rs will be offered worldwide with the Japanese carmaker to announce more details at a later date.
Bolt, who has been appointed Nissan’s new “Director of Excitement”, commented on his endorsement of the GT-R: “Racing is my inspiration, and I want to help Nissan become an even more exciting brand for everyone.”
Nissan on its behalf, is pretty happy to get Bolt on board to further promote the brand.
Toshiyuki Shiga, Chief Operating Officer, said: “Nissan shares the spirit of excitement that captivated worldwide audiences at the Olympics. There is no-one better qualified than Usain Bolt to help us translate that spirit into great experiences.”
