It has been 10 years since Volkswagen entered the mid-size crossover segment for the very first with the Touareg Mk1 that was displayed for the world to see at the 2002 Paris Motor Show.
To commemorate the Touareg’s 10th anniversary, the German carmaker has prepared a limited edition version of the second-generation model, appropriately named “X” (the Roman symbol for 10), which sports a number of special features.
On the outside, the new Touareg Edition X is finished in a ‘Moonlight Blue Pearl Effect’ hue and rolls on 19-inch ‘Moab’ alloy wheels. Other standard elements include a large panoramic sunroof, silver anodized roof rails, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and darkened LED rear light clusters.
Also included in the package are the ‘Chrome & Style’ designer pack, tinted side and rear windows and ‘Touareg X’ logos on the wings.
Inside, Volkswagen dressed the special edition model’s cabin in amber brown Nappa leather trim with a new style of braid embossed finish, while adding decorative inlays in real ebony for doors and instrument panel, plus illuminated front door sills with ‘Touareg X’ letters.
The color-coordinated decorative stitching on the leather steering wheel, gear lever gaiter and fabric floor mats complete the interior upgrades.
In Europe, the Touareg Edition X is offered with a choice of five engine and transmission combinations, including a hybrid version, with prices in Germany starting at €61,025 for the V6 TDI BlueMotion Technology (201Hp / 204PS) with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
