This is one Chevrolet Matiz you surely won’t be making any fun of; and how could you after you learn that engineers somehow squeezed a massive Corvette Z06-sourced 7.0-liter V8 that develops anywhere from 505 to 550-horses (depending on who you ask) into its miniscule body.
We remember showing you a V8-powered Matiz racecar concept back in early 2009 (see the videos after the break) , and unless someone else had the same crazy idea, we believe that this car found for sale on eBay Germany by CarScoop reader “CobraV8” is the same one with the addition of a racing livery.
The homologated racing prototype model was built by racing expert Fourdin Auto Sport (FAS). It is based on the world’s only three-door Matiz with company founder Yves Fourdin and his team gracing the Chevrolet mini with a menacing wide body kit and huge 18-inch wheels wrapped in slick tires.
The car is said to borrow several other parts from the Corvette including its steering and brake systems.
As for performance, the Matiz V8 can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62mph) in just 3.7 seconds and to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.94 seconds while topping out at 260 km/h (162 mph).
The auction on eBay.de starts from a very low €40,000 (US$52,000), which is a far cry from the €250,000 (US$325,000) + that the Matiz V8 is said to have cost to build a few years back, but we assume that the owner has likely set a much higher minimum sales price.
Thanks to “CobraV8” for the find!
