Toyota is wasting no time spreading the word out on its all-new, fourth-generation RAV4 SUV that just made its world debut at the ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show.
On Wednesday, the Japanese carmaker confirmed the 2013 RAV4’s European market engine lineup, while also revealing prices for the UK model ahead of its launch on 1 March 2013.
When the new RAV4 goes on sale in Europe next year, it will offer a choice of three powerplants. These include a brand new 2.0-liter D-4D diesels, details of which have not yet been announced, and two engines that are carried over with minor tweaks from the outgoing model, a 2.2-liter D-4D diesel rated at 148bhp (110kw / 150PS) and a 2.0-litre Valvematic petrol producing 156bhp (116kW / 158PS).
In Britain, at least, the base 2.0 D-4D diesel will be available only with front-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual, the 2.0-liter petrol exclusively with a CVT and AWD, while the 2.2 D-4D diesel, with a choice of 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions as well as FWD and AWD configurations.
Pricing in the UK starts at £22,595 on-the-road for the base 2.0 D-4D Active model, rising to £29,295 for the range-topping 2.2 D-4D AWD Auto Invincible.
There are three trim grades available, with the entry-level Active featuring 17-inch alloys, air conditioning, Bluetooth, plus electric windows front and rear as standard.
The Icon trim adds a powered tailgate, power-folding mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, part-leather instrument panel trim, dual-zone automatic air conditioning and the Toyota Touch multimedia touchscreen with a DAB digital tuner, rear-view camera and Bluetooth.
Sitting at the top of the range is the new Invincible grade that gains roof rails, leather upholstery, heated front seats, rear parking sensors and Smart Entry and Start.
UK buyers can place their orders for the new RAV4 now, with first deliveries in the beginning of March 2013.
