Visitors at next week’s 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit who will head towards Nissan’s booth will be greeted by the firm’s brand-new global auto show stand, complete with a new motor show fragrance labeled ‘Thé Vert Oriental’.

Much like luxury hotels and retailers, the Nissan display will boast its own special scents, sounds and lights. Nissan says the new fragrance will evoke the aroma of green tea “during Chinese spring harvest”, with the company stating that, if visitors leave a positive feedback, it will use it in its U.S. showrooms.

“We’re hoping our dealers will embrace it,” Erich Marx, Nissan director for interactive and social-media marketing told Automotive News. “We’ll be measuring the reception.”

According to the Japanese carmaker, the new interactive display that also features a 150 ft. long/45 sq. ft. wide halo hovering above a high-definition LED display, will be featured at 10 other global auto shows throughout 2013.

As for the cars Nissan plans to debut in Detroit, these include a brand-new, but as of yet, unnamed, concept model and an all-new subcompact hatchback, which is believed to be the five-door 2014 Versa.
