The countdown for the world premiere of the new Audi A3 Sedan is on, as the brand with the four-rings published a teaser video on its new online channel, ‘Audi MediaTV’, in which we see the car hidden under a white sheet while also getting a glimpse of the compact model’s interior and rear seats.
Audi doesn’t mention the A3 Sedan by name, but it’s the only new four-door model we’re expecting from the German brand this time of the year.
The automaker said it will provide a “sneak preview” of the car on Audi MediaTV on March 27, which also happens to be the first press day of the New York Auto Show. Whether Audi will reveal the car in the Big Apple, at the Shanghai Auto Show that follows in April, as some sources suggest, or at a different event, remains unknown.
Audi has previewed the A3 Sedan twice in the past, with the 2011 Geneva Motor Show A3 Sedan Concept powered by a 402hp (408PS) 2.5-liter inline-five turbo and the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show A3 Sedan e-tron study with a gasoline-electric hybrid powerplant delivering 238-horsepower.
The production model will be based on the running gear of the latest A3 hatchback and will go against the Mercedes-Benz CLA.
