One of the highlights at SsangYong’s 2013 Geneva Motor Show booth is the new SIV-1 concept for mid-size premium CUV (crossover utility vehicle), which the Korean company says “will become a strategic model within the SsangYong range”.

In prototype form, the SIV-1 is 4,500mm long, 1,880mm wide and 1,640mm tall, riding on a 2,700mm wheelbase.

According to SsangYong, the SIV-1 was designed to be fitted with a choice of two powerplants, a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol unit rated at 202hp (205PS) and 280Nm, and a 1.6-liter diesel producing 148hp (150PS) and 360Nm of peak torque, both connected to a standard 6-speed manual or an optional dual clutch transmission.

We’re also told that the SIV-1 represents SsangYong’s new design philosophy of “Nature Born 3 Motion”, which was first seen on the XIV concept series.
