BMW is not known for making shattering updates when it comes to mid-cycle facelifts, and this surely applies to the upcoming 2014 5-Series range, including the sedan, Touring, Gran Turismo, prototypes of which have already been spotted, as well as the M5 performance sedan that our spies captured resting outside the Nürburgring circuit in Germany.

You’ll have to get up close to the 2014 M5 to notice the differences, and that’s precisely what our photographer did revealing the new headlamp units that swap the round fixtures for circular ones with a flat bottom, and a new grille with twin slats similar to those used on the M6 range.

The only other visible change seems to be the graphics for the rear light clusters, though; BMW may have tweaked the rear bumper and diffuser as well, since both are partially covered in camouflage.

As with the rest of the 2014 5-Series range, the M5 will also receive some select updates inside, such as an improved version of its iDrive multimedia system and a configurable instrument display.

The M5’s 500 lb-ft torque and 560hp-strong twin-turbo V8 will likely continue to offer its services as is.
