There are BMW tuners and BMW tuners, and then there’s Alpina; a company that works so closely with the Bavarian automaker that its cars are produced on the same assembly lines as the BMWs they are based on, and come with a full manufacturer’s warranty.
Having launched two brand-new models in the past month, in particular the X3 diesel-based XD3 BiTurbo and the F30 3-Series sedan-based B3 BiTurbo, Alpina has now turned its focus on the next project based on the 650i Gran Coupe, and which judging by the company’s nomenclature, will most likely be called the B6 BiTurbo Gran Coupe.
Spied here undergoing testing in Germany, the B6 BiTurbo Gran Coupe will slot between the 443hp (450PS) 650i and the 552hp (560PS) M6 sports saloons, sharing the same modified 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 532hp (540PS) and 730Nm (538 lb-ft) with the Alpina B5 Sedan and B6 Coupe/Convertible BiTurbo models.
On this prototype, we also see the new Alpina-style front apron, rear spoiler, wheels and tailpipe outlets, while the German brand will also modify the interior with bespoke trims, steering wheel, seats, and instrument panel gauges. Changes will also be made to the chassis to improve handling over the regular 650i Gran Coupe.
