We know what your first question will be about the spy video and these latest shots of the 2015 Subaru WRX prototype, but unfortunately, we can’t give you an answer yet if this is the wishy-washy (read complete letdown), production version of the dramatic WRX Concept, a WRX iteration of the current Impreza to be offered before or alongside the aforementioned WRX, or an early test mule.
It goes without saying that we sincerely hope this is not Subaru’s production vision of the study that fascinated many of us at the recent New York Auto Show.
Regardless of what the body of this test car previews or not, what you’ll find crunched under the hood will most probably be the same: a 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer engine pumping out at least 270 ponies in regular trim, and more than 300-horses when Subaru places the famed STi badge on the grille.
We don’t need to tell you that the flat-four is connected to a manual gearbox and all-wheel drive, though, in some markets, a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) will be offered as an option.
Until someone at Subaru spills the beans on what they’re doing with the tester, feel free to watch the video and check out the scoops pictures that follow.
