It looks like the teaser video Aston Martin released a few days ago was a preview of the new 565-hp V12 Vantage S. With 55 more horsepower than the V12 Vantage it replaces, the V12 Vantage S is described by Aston Martin as the brand’s fastest road-going model – since the One-77 hypercar isn’t produced any more.
Powered by the new 565hp (573 PS) AM28 6.0-liter V12 engine, it is capable of reaching 205 mph (330 km/h). Fitted with the latest generation Bosch engine management, the unit delivers 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque at 5,750 rpm, up from 570 Nm/420 lb-ft in the V12 Vantage. Low rev torque, measured at just 1,000 rpm, is also up from 440 Nm (324 lb-ft) to 510 Nm (376 lb-ft).
Aston says the car features racecar technology, with CNC machined combustion chambers and hollow camshafts being just two examples of track technology adapted for the road. Another example is the car’s new gearbox, the Sportshift III AMT (automated manual transmission), a development of the automated manual gearbox from the V8 Vantage S. Fitted with motorsport-style paddle shift changes, the unit is also 25 kg (55 lbs) lighter than the outgoing six-speed manual gearbox.
The V12 Vantage S comes with three-stage adaptive damping, another first for the Vantage family, which offers three modes (Normal, Sport and Track) that allow the driver to tailor the car’s dynamic character. Other new features include a lighter, smaller and noisier exhaust system than that of the outgoing car.
Aesthetically, changes include the new grille similar to that found on the CC100 Speedster Concept, in which aluminum vanes are replaced by a new carbon fiber arrangement. Other enhancements are the new lightweight forge alloy 10-spoke wheels and an exterior graphics pack including black painted roof and part-painted boot panel.
On the inside, customers can choose between the Sport and carbon fiber Lightweight seat options with revised stitching and welt detailing. There are two leather grade options – Luxmill and semi-aniline – plus the possibility to include Alcantara. Aston Martin also offers an optional Carbon Fiber Interior Pack consisting of carbon fiber trim on the fascia and door pulls, plus black pedals.
