The Aston Martin V12 Vantage is a ludicrous car. If you’ve even seen one up close, you’ll know it is quite short, very wide and equally low – it’s a sports car with an insanely large engine for its dimensions, and squat purposeful proportions.
The fact that AM even made it at all is surprising and impressive enough, and even more so that they managed to produce a total of 1,200 units from 2009 to 2013 (200 more than they originally planned to build, means that the likelihood of you seeing one blasting off from a set of traffic lights is just that little bit greater.
However, they will be making no more, and dealers have reportedly already been notified to stop taking orders for it, on April 19.
According to Aston-Martin, a brand fan site, the production run included 101 roadster models, as well as an unknown number of Zagato-bodied specials. However, before it goes away forever, Aston Martin may launch a special “Centenary Edition,” which we hope will be more than a stickers and sunroof special edition.
The V12 Vantage will be missed, and please take a good look at it. Noise, emissions and fuel efficiency regulations have already made this car somewhat of a dinosaur, and as Jeremy Clarkson stated in his road test of the car, this car feels like an ending.
