The new Ford Fiesta ST, despite being the most affordable hot hatch in its class, is racking up positive reviews from around the world, and it can now add another under its belt, by Carbuyer.
The video posted below is a full test of the Blue Oval’s hot supermini, and it gives the impression that just like with the Focus ST, which is one of the cheaper hot hatches, but from the class above, Ford has succeeded in delivering a competent car.
According to the review, the only complaints regarding the Fiesta ST were the “questionable build quality” of the interior, the Sony audio system’s buttons that are too small and the poor rear space for passengers. The tester says it retains the same interior as the non-facelifted version with minor modifications, but it is noticeably cheaper-feeling than that of the VW Polo, Renault Clio or Peugeot 208, all of which are direct rivals.
It still makes up for its shortcomings with the refreshed exterior styling, punchy 1.6-liter engine that doesn’t sound strained like some of its rivals’, and the excellent chassis tuning all of Ford’s ST-branded cars are renowned for. Some ride comfort is sacrificed, and the car can even be seen fidgeting over bumps in some of the review’s driving shots.
Overall it’s seems like a good buy, which some will choose over its more expensive rivals simply on price difference alone.
