A heavy SUV, which has been lowered, stiffened and bestowed with a monster V8 engine is a somewhat pointless exercise, and does not make a great off-roader or sports car. However, enough power will negate any kind of weight in a straight line, and that’s where the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT fitted with the Hennessey HPE650 upgrade kit shines.

As always, John Hennessey is here to explain what they’ve done to boost power from the stock 470hp up to the claimed 650hp that their pack offers. The 6.4-liter Hemi V8 gets a supercharger, revised ECU mapping and an uprated fuel-delivery system, all of which will undoubtedly make the gas in the tank vanish even quicker than before.

Yet there’s no denying the performance of this tuned SUV, which in the video reaches 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, passing the quarter-mile marker in 12.6 seconds at 110 mph (176 km/h).

The exact price isn’t specified, but do expect the HPE650 pack to cost around $20,000 (€15,400), as John Hennessey himself states near the end of the video which we have conveniently posted below.
