McLaren will produce an anniversary edition of the 12C and 12C Spider in a limited run of 50 units for each model. Named the McLaren 50 12C, the commemorative editions feature styling tweaks and enhanced specs.
Produced by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the division responsible for the company’s bespoke projects, the 50 12C and 50 12C Spider feature a remodelled, CFD-optimized front bumper inspired by the limited-run HS Edition models. The lower section of the bumper that frames the air intakes is constructed from carbon fiber, while the front floor is made from race-derived carbon Kevlar.
A black McLaren F1-inspired heritage badge is fitted on the bonnet, a feature previously only available to MSO clients. Both the McLaren 50 12C and 12C Spider are fitted as standard with carbon ceramic brakes with 394x36mm (15.51×1.41in) discs at the front, and 380x34mm (14.96×1.34in at the rear.
McLaren also offers the bespoke McLaren 50 Ultra Lightweight wheels finished in satin black (19-inch at the front and 20-inch at the rear), which are 2 kilograms (4.41 pounds) lighter than the Super Lightweight wheels.
On the inside, McLaren 50 12C models come with full leather upholstery, subtle branding on the carbon fibre sill panel and floor mats, plus an anniversary plate on the driver’s door highlighting the limited run.
The anniversary 12Cs are available in three colors – Carbon Black, Supernova Silver or McLaren Orange. Each of the McLaren 50 models will be offered with a monogrammed black and silver car cover, limited edition key, carbon fiber presentation key box and a specially commissioned print signed by McLaren Automotive design director, Frank Stephenson.
So how much does it cost to own a limited-edition 12C? In the UK, the coupe retails from £196,000 (€228,920), while the roadster costs £215,500 (€251,690).
