For more than three decades now, Volkswagen Group fans from all over the world come together for the annual Wörthersee Tour in Austria where the German automaker and its growing portfolio of brands bring a fleet of new models, concept cars and accessories.
This year will be no different with the VW brand having prepared a number of special cars, including a conceptual sports interpretation of the Amarok pickup truck powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel capable of delivering 268hp (272PS / 200kW) and a peak torque of 600Nm (442 lb-ft).
The six-cylinder engine is connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission and a permanent all-wheel drive system, which help the two-door pickup truck go from standstill to 100km/h (62mph) in 7.9 seconds.
Matching the newly found power is an appearance kit that includes 60mm wider fenders to fit the huge 22-inch wheels in a gunmetal shade with 295/35 performance tires, carbon fiber front and rear aprons, and side skirts, bespoke bumpers, a rear diffuser with dual pipes, and LED lights all around.
VW’s designers then went on to upgrade the interior accordingly with body-hugging sport seats, carbon fiber-style dashboard and door panels, a sports steering wheel, red accents and other goods.
We’ll have more on the new Amarok Concept from the Wörthersee Tour that kicks off on Wednesday, May 8.
