As a new model that’s only been in the market for less than a year (sales started in November 2012), the Pathfinder is entering the 2014MY with only a few equipment changes, a small increase in price across the range, and most importantly, the addition of the new hybrid variant that was introduced at the New York Show in March.
The enhancements for the non-hybrid 2014 Pathfinder models, all of which are fitted with a 260hp 3.5-liter V6 engine connected to a CVT in 2WD or 4WD configurations, are limited to a newly added SL Tech Package. It’s priced at $1,570 and features a Bose 13-speaker Premium Audio System, Nissan Navigation System, Voice Recognition, XM NavTraffic and NavWeather capability, Zagat Survey Restaurant Guide, Bluetooth Streaming Audio and an 8-inch color touch-screen monitor.
While the price of the entry level Pathfinder S 2WD remains the same as last year at $28,700 (obviously for marketing reasons), the rest of the range is more expensive without offering added features. For example, the MSRP of the Pathfinder SV 2WD went up by $430 to $31,960, while the Pathfinder Platinum 4WD now costs $41,200, an increase of $430.
The new Pathfinder Hybrid sporting a 2.5-liter supercharged four-banger and an electric motor for a combined output of 250hp and a combined fuel economy of 26mpg US, will carry a premium of around $3,000 over the regular model (Nissan has not yet announced final pricing).
Keep in mind, MSRPs do not include a destination and handling fee of $845.
