Peugeot has announced that it will unwrap the production version of the RCZ R sports coupe at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, on July 12. Announced as their most powerful ever road car, the R is definitely a car we’re keeping our eye on.

Until then, the French media has published a blurry photo of the car, which appears to have retained all of the features seen on the concept – rim design, dual exhausts and the spoiler on the back. It actually doesn’t appear to be any different, only sporting a different color scheme. Still, they should really consider offering the matte black and copper/gold finish they showed at the Paris motor show.

What we are waiting for, really, are the performance figures, which considering its low stance and aerodynamic body shape, this should be a nice high-speed cruiser. Also, with a limited-slip diff keeping all of the 260 hp (264 PS) in check through the twisties, it should be much more engaging to drive than the non-R RCZ, which in itself is not a bad driving car.

One thing we do hope they fix is the offset steering wheel, which plagues all old 308-based cars – it makes long journeys an uncomfortable chore and you will come out of the experience slightly twisted in the middle, with a persistent back ache.
