UK-based gaming studio Codemasters has a long history of making very popular racing games, and while the chosen theme varies greatly, all of their products are polished, fun to play and easy to pick up.

F1 2013, an anticipated upcoming title, is now getting a host of nice 1980s and 1990s historic racing cars, period driver names and historically-accurate tracks, which have been modified from their current (modern) state to mimic what they were like when Nigel Mansell’s moustache wasn’t a conversation topic, as people were more interested in his driving.

The ‘80s and ‘90s symbolized the peak of the spectacular F1 racing scene, and it set the stage for some of (if not) the most memorable dogfights and passes in motorsport history. Now, courtesy of a new “Classic Edition” of the game, players will be able to reenact some of their favorite moments, by choosing from a surprisingly wide selection of period cars and drivers, which the game offers in addition to all of the “official cars, stars and circuits.”

It’s definitely a nice change of scenery for the F1 2013 game, and one which will definitely boost its appeal, though unlike in the automotive industry, this may actually attract some older buyers. It is also said to boast improved car physics, an accurate simulation of the new tires and, of course, all of the current drivers and teams.
