Aston Martin is giving private individuals and companies alike the rare opportunity to obtain two racecars exclusively for display purposes at a private collection, in a showroom, at a launch or other promotional and customer events, including a Vantage GTE and a DBR 1-2, both sporting the Gulf livery.
Before you make plans for the Nürburgring or any other track, learn that whichever one you choose, it won’t come with an engine or a transmission. Pricing is set at £250,000 a pop (about US$385,000 or €291,000 at the current exchange rates).
The V8 Vantage GTE competed in the 2012 Le Mans with Danish drivers Allan Simonsen (who, sadly, lost his life in an accident at Le Mans this month), Cristoffer Nygaard and Kristian Poulsen at the wheel. Currently, it is used by Aston Martin Racing as a showcar.
The much niftier looking DBR 1-2 served as Aston Martin Racing’s test and development chassis for its accession to the LMP1 class for the 2009-2011 seasons.
The purchaser of each display model will also be able to choose his branding on the doors of the works #97 GTE PRO car at a forthcoming WEC race, as well as have the opportunity to bring up to ten VIP guests to the race who will be hosted as part of Aston Martin Racing’s VIP hospitality programme, and meet the brand’s racing drivers at a special launch event.
