Britain’s Jaguar will use the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed to premiere an “unique version of Jaguar F-Type convertible sports car”. While some may be tempted to think Jaguar will finally display the F-Type Coupe at the Goodwood hill-climb event, the language used by the UK carmaker is rather ambiguous.

Jaguar say the car is “an exciting new design study based on the Jaguar F-Type convertible sports car”, which should eliminate the production version of the F-Type Coupe.

As you probably know, the F-Type Coupe has already been previewed by the C-X16 Concept at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show, so another pre-production concept would be simply stalling on Jaguar’s part. The release also says the unique vehicle will be unleashed on the Goodwood Hill with Jaguar’s Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity, Mike Cross behind the wheel.

F-Type study aside, Jaguar will also bring three of its new “R” models: the XFR-S, XJR and XKR-S GT. All three will make their dynamic UK debuts, which is Jaguar talk for the cars being driven up the Goodwood Hill. The XKR-S GT will be driven on Friday July 12 by six-time Olympic Champion Sir Chris Hoy in the Supercar Run, with famous Gran Turismo producer Kazunori Yamauchi driving the high performance newcomer the next day.

Jaguar will also bring a selection of heritage cars including the record-breaking Jaguar XK 120, which was once driven for seven days and seven nights at an average speed of more than 100 mph (161 km/h) in 1952 to set a new speed and endurance records with, amongst others, Sir Stirling Moss behind the wheel. The Group C Jaguar XJR-9, which won Le Mans in 1988 with of Andy Wallace, Jan Lammers and Johnny Dumfries behind the wheel will also be driven up the Hill by  Wallace himself.
