To celebrate the production of half a million Audi TT cars since the nameplate was introduced in 1998, Audi launched a special edition model called the TTS Competition. Available in both Coupé and Roadster versions, the 268hp (272PS) TTS Competition will be built in a limited run of 500 units starting in October.
The car will be available exclusively in two body colors – Imola yellow or Nimbus gray – while the Roadster’s top is available in either Black or Gray. Other distinctive elements for the TTS Competition are the fixed rear wing with bars in a matt aluminum-look finish and the 19-inch “Rotor” wheels shod with 225/35 tyres.
On the inside, the limited edition Audi features an Impulse leather package in steel gray, which has leather bands as decorative elements. Their cut edges are dyed Imola yellow, with the same shade of yellow being used for the contrasting stitching. Other special touches are the aluminum badges on the door trims embossed with the “1 of 500” label.
Besides these special features, the TTS Competition has the same standard equipment as the TTS, including xenon plus headlights and Audi magnetic ride damper control system. Compared to the starting price of the standard TTS, Audi charges an extra €1,900 ($2,520) for the TTS Competition.
No changes have been made under the hood, with the all-wheel-drive TTS Competition sharing the same 2.0-liter direct-injected turbocharged gasoline engine that develops 268 hp (272 PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. When fitted with the six-speed S tronic gearbox, the Coupé version sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.3 seconds (5.5 seconds for the Roadster). Manual versions are 0.2 seconds slower.
Average fuel consumption for the Coupé is 7.7 l/100 km (30.5 US mpg) with the S tronic and 7.9 l/100 km (29.8 US mpg) for the manual. The Roadster averages 7.9 l/100 km with the S tronic and 8.1 l/100 km (29 US mpg) with the manual. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
