We know it’s rather early to be talking about an event that won’t take place for nearly another four months, let alone that it will be preceded by the Frankfurt Motor Show in six weeks’ time, but the organizers of the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show that runs for the public from November 22 to December 1, are getting us in the mood with their latest announcement.
Show planners said they expect more than 50 vehicle debuts to be unveiled in front of a global audience in LA, while also confirming world premieres from BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Porsche, Subaru and Volkswagen. We’ll add Alfa Romeo and its 4C as a North American premiere to that list.
So, which cars will the nine aforementioned brands bring to the L.A. Auto Show in November? Beginning alphabetically with BMW, the show organizers said the Bavarians “confirmed seven to eight debuts, including a yet-to-be-named global premiere”. New production models expected to debut within the next year or so from BMW include the 1-Series GT, 2-Series Coupe & Convertible, M3 sedan, M4 Coupe, X4 Crossover, 4-Series Gran Coupe, X5M Crossover and the 4-Series Convertible, which is scheduled for production during the time of the show.
Chevrolet’s world premiere could be the next-generation Colorado mid-sized truck, according to Autonews, or the all-new Suburban and Tahoe SUVs, according to the LA Times.
Asked by Autonews about their world debuts in LA, Ford, Mercedes-Benz and Subaru officials declined to comment; however, in regards to Mercedes, the Germans will likely show the V12-powered S65 AMG. Honda also declined to comment, but there’s a good chance we might see the all-new Fit and possibly, a refresh of the Insight hybrid.
The LA Show said that Mini will “present a strong showing with the long-awaited global introduction of its brand-new MINI automobile,” pointing to either the new generation of its hatch (see the revealing spy shots here) or one of its versions (think Cooper S, Convertible).
As for Porsche, the Stuttgart company has long confirmed the world debut of the new Macan SUV, while Volkswagen is rumored to show the North American iteration of the Golf Variant, the new Jetta SportWagen.
Even though Cadillac was not mentioned in the LA Show organizers press release, it has been rumored that the wreath and crest automaker may reveal the ATS Coupe.
