Pagani is now probably the boutique supercar manufacturer of the moment, and while their top (and currently only) offering, the Huayra, trails some rivals in terms of performance (though not by a lot), they also offer stunning design and great craftsmanship which looks better than anything else I’ve seen.
Moreover, the name Zonda is nowadays synonymous with the Pagani brand, yet apparently, it’s not one of their own…
According to Car Design News (CND), it was actually first used by DeTomaso, to designate a car which at a first glance looks identical to the Maserati Ghibli. The DeTomaso Zonda was revealed at the 1971 Geneva motor show.
A Ghia-designed sports car, as was the Maserati, it featured a front-engined layout, and I insist that if you put a trident badge on the front of it, you’d fool even some knowledgeable people…
Power came from a Ford-sourced V8 engine, displacing 5.7 liters (351 cubic inches), which was apparently dyno-tested and produced around 380 hp and a lot of torque.
