If you know what you want and feel no need to wait for the Frankfurt Motor Show in September to see the updated 2014 Vauxhall Insignia VXR’s Opel twin, the facelifted Insignia OPC, in the flesh to make your decision, then you can go ahead and place your order for the performance model in the UK.

The Insignia VXR SuperSport is available to order now, with on-the-road (OTR) prices set at £29,749 for the Hatch (liftback) and £31,049 for the Sports Tourer (estate).

Externally, the top model in the Insignia range comes with revised front and rear ends, while inside, changes include an all-new instrument panel and central console design with an 8-inch touchscreen, 3D navigation and voice control.

Improvements under the skin include a revised rear suspension setup with new plenty of new components, modifications to the ESP software and upgrades to the electronic damper system.

The SuperSport moniker denotes that the Insignia VXR comes without a speed limiter, thus allowing both body styles to top out 170mph (274km/h). Since nothing has changed under the hood, performance is the same, with the 320hp (325PS) twin-turbo V6 accelerating the 6sp manual model to 60mph (96km/h) in 5.9 seconds (6.1 seconds for the Sports Tourer).
