To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Abarth 595, launched in September 1963 at the Turin Motor Show, Abarth will display a limited edition model inspired by the original 595 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Called the Abarth 595 “50th Anniversary”, the model will be built in a limited run of 299 units wearing a livery that is a modern reinterpretation of the original with historical Abarth logos and the original Fiat Abarth 595 graphics, all handmade at Officine Abarth in Turin.
Under the hood, the anniversary Abarth 595 features the same 1.4-liter T-Jet gasoline engine delivering 180 hp as the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari. The unit is linked to the “Abarth Competizione” gearbox, while the setup and braking system have been further strengthened with Brembo 305 mm floating brake discs featuring fixed four-piston caliper and special shock absorbers. There’s also the “Record Monza” variable back-pressure “dual mode” exhaust which is designed to improve engine performance and enhance its sound over 3,000 rpm.
Paint scheme and graphics aside, other exterior elements include 17-inch alloy wheels with 695 Magnesio Grey design adorned with a red liner and a sun roof, which is another tribute to the original car. The Abarth 595 “50th Anniversary” features standard Xenon headlights.
On the inside, the limited edition Abarth features red leather sports seats with white inserts and red stitching, also inspired by those of the original car. Abarth’s historical logo can be found on the steering wheel and the kick plate.
In addition to the 595 “50th Anniversary”, Abarth will also bring to Frankfurt the 695 Maserati Edition which is now available in a special “Record Grey” color. Only 49 cars will be built, honoring the establishment of the Abarth brand in 1949. All 49 cars will be identified by a plate placed inside the car with numbers from 1 to 49. Compared to the initial version of the car wearing the “Pontevecchio Burgundy” color, the car that will be displayed at the show will also feature a black soft top and “Neptune” 17-inch glossy black wheels. Everything else remains unchanged.
