BMW has made itself known over the years for not only making good cars, but also showing the same kind of attention to engineering when it comes to their two-wheeled creations. From small scooters to big fully-fledged cruiser motorbikes, the BMW brand really encompasses many different machines, all of which are appreciated in their respective niche (to my knowledge, at least).
Now, the Bavarians have mixed their expertise when it comes to city-oriented two-wheeled vehicles, with their advanced electric powertrains to create the C evolution, a battery-powered scooter that blends the “superb ride qualities of a motorcycle, with the specific agility of a scooter.”
The strange thing is this model was announced around one year ago, yet the press release talks about it as if it were an all-new just-revealed model…
Power is rated at 15 hp constantly, but can peak at 47 hp when you’re really gunning for it. This ensures the scooter tops out at 120 km/h (75 mph, electronically limited) and reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.2 seconds, both of which put it on par with conventionally driven models equipped with 600 cc engines.
Range is also quoted at 100 km (62 miles), and the 8 kWh takes around four hours to charge up from empty, from a regular 220v socket with a 12A current. Plus, there’s brake regeneration too, so downhill sections of road will be your friend, like with any other EV – just don’t climb the same incline on your way back home.
The BMW c evolution will be visible at BMW’s Frankfurt motor show stand, where it will sit alongside the production-spec i8.
