The Galibier was/is the planned re-entry for the German-owned French brand into the ultra-luxurious sedan niche. Shown in concept form a few times, it set the premise for a very promising road car, that at first was said to be getting around 800 hp, then after a CEO change the figure was reportedly brought up to Veyron levels, so as to stay true to the brand’s impressive performance credentials.
Now, one more CEO later (the third in the last three years), under the reign of Wolfgang Schreiber, MotorTrend reports that the project is all-but canceled.
Apparently, the brand will be building the remaining number of Veyrons for the next two and a half years, and by then, the research and development work on the new one will have been done. However, the current-gen model won’t be sent off with a special, limited edition variant with even more power, which some had called the Super Veyron.
It’s not completely dead per se, but it isn’t getting too much support at the moment. We’ll report any more news as soon as we have it.
