Here’s a rather nifty marketing stunt from Nissan and Amazon, which may be something more than that, given how the online business has transformed just about every industry in the world, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the retailer is actually gauging reactions as well as taking down its own…ahem…notes.
The two companies came together thanks to the efforts of the TBWA\Chiat\Day advertising agency, which thought up the idea of promoting the launch of the new Nissan Versa Note on Amazon, much in the same way as any other product.
If you visit the product page on the retailer’s site, you cannot actually buy the car, as Amazon points you towards a local dealer to complete the deal. However, the first 100 people who will press, “add it your cart” and head to Nissan to sign off the papers within 30 days of the form’s submission, will be eligible for a $1,000 Amazon gift card.
In addition, Autonews is reporting that three “lucky” buyers will see their Versa Note cars delivered to their house packaged in enormous Amazon boxes (just like the mixer you ordered last night), with video crews on hand to capture the moment, and, of course, use it as promotional material for Nissan, possibly even Amazon as well.
