Placing modern technology under the bodywork of an old car is a tuning process that has picked up in recent years, with one of the best-known cars of this kind being the Singer 911.

The Equus Bass770 is a new arrival, one that combines the late 1960s styling of the Ford Mustang fastback with modern-day technology like the full aluminum bespoke frame and body, and a 6.2-liter LS9 V8 supercharged engine from the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 developing 640hp at 6,500 rpm and 605 lb-ft (819 Nm) of torque at 3,800 rpm. The powerplant is mated to a rear-mounted 6-speed dual clutch gearbox.

With this engine, the Bass770 can reach a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h) and sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. Stopping power is provided by Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, while the magnetic suspension system features adjustable shock absorbers that maximize grip.

On the outside, the Equus Bass770 has unmistakable Mustang cues, although it has specific details like the “redesigned” horse emblem, front grille, LED headlights and taillights. On the inside, the cabin is wrapped in leather highlighted by bright metal accents.

So far so good, but the $250,000 (€185,300) starting price will no doubt raise some eyebrows. Standard equipment includes a complete black leather interior, air conditioning, GPS, radio/CD/DVD player, USB connector, tire pressure monitor, cruise control, airbags, Isofix and others. Optional extras include colored or chromed brake calipers, additional lamps, interior and/or exterior black chrome, engine cover and hi-fi enhancement.

For those who want to completely personalize their car, Equus offers bespoke models from $300,000 (€222,360), including a dedicated designer during the customization program.
