Alongside the Mondeo Vignale Concept, Ford’s main exhibit at the Frankfurt Motor Show is another study that previews a production model – the S-Max Concept. Ford says the study shows its vision for a future sport activity vehicle. Given the name, proportions and styling, it’s safe to say the next-generation S-Max will draw inspiration from this study…
The concept is natural evolution of the current S-Max, featuring sleek, fluid lines and retains the touch of sportiness that made the current S-Max stand out from its competitors. Employing the latest Ford global design language, the study features a high mounted grille and swept-back organic LED headlights. The bonnet is continued seamlessly with the sharp raked windscreen, which in turn flows into the roof creating a unique glass roof graphic.
The interior offers four- to seven-seat configurations, while the dashboard looks cleaner, better organized and more focused, with way less buttons than the current model. Ford says the S-Max Concept features high quality materials, including an ultra-soft leather wrap for the instrument panel, and leather and carbon fiber detailing for the sculptured seats.
The showcar features smart technologies and a more flexible interior and incorporates connectivity and “wellness” technology (yes, you read that right!) including Ford Sync with AppLink, which enables drivers to voice-activate apps from behind the wheel, and the Ford ECG Heart Rate Monitoring Seat that records the driver’s heart rate.
Powered by the all-new 1.5-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine, the study displays interesting solutions for the interior, such as the Thin Seat Technology. The third row of seats can be raised and lowered in a single action with minimum effort, while the second row of seats allow for an easy access.
