A spanking new Corvette captured jumping high in the air on the Nürburgring racetrack will always get our attention. Now, whether there is any substance to General Motors’ release that includes said picture is a completely story altogether…
What GM is trying to tell us here, is that it’s trying out the Corvette on the Nordschleife to make some fine-tuning to the European-specification model a few months prior to going on sale in the Old Continent. There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that the General must have recorded some fast laps, but for now, at least, it’s not sharing them.
“Nürburgring is renowned for its demanding race track and it is perfectly suited for our purpose, which is to fine-tune the ride and handling characteristics of the European Corvette Stingray,” said Jim Mero, vehicle dynamics engineer at GM. “We are paying particular attention to the suspension set-up and the steering at Nürburgring. European roads are quite distinct and different from those in the U.S., and so are driving habits.”
The closest thing to seeing the Corvette running on the Nürburgring (from a geographical point, we mean), is a fresh video released by GM that shows Patrick Herrmann, technical manager at Chevrolet Europe, driving the 2014 Corvette Stingray at the Test Center in Dudenhofen, Germany.
