Let’s face it; with a big-ol’ 6.2-liter V8 engine and prices starting from around €40,000 (US$53,000) in Germany and £35,320 (US$55,000) in the UK for the coupe (the V6 isn’t available across the pond), the Camaro in its current state will never sell in any kind of adequate numbers in Europe.
What it has and will continue to do is strengthen the cache of the bow-tie brand in Europe, which is probably why Chevrolet chose the Frankfurt Motor Show for the international premiere of the facelifted 2014 Camaro Convertible.
Joining the rag-top Camaro at Chevy’s stand is the updated coupe model. The two versions of the Camaro sport redesigned front and rear ends, improved aerodynamics, while inside, European customers get new color head-up display, Chevrolet MyLink connected radio, and rearview camera.
Power for either body style comes from a 6.2-liter V8 engine which is mated to a six-speed manual, in which case it is rated at 426hp (432PS) offering a 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 5.2 seconds for the coupe and 5.4 seconds for the convertible, or a six-speed automatic transmission.
