Renault will reveal the second facelift for its Mégane compact range at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The changes are more substantial than in 2012 and are focused on the front end of the 3- and 5-door hatchback, the estate and sporty GT and RS models.
Renault says it wanted to ensure “greater unity between the front ends of Mégane Hatchback, Mégane Estate and Mégane Coupé”, which now feature the same grille, bumper and bonnet, as well as new elliptical headlights, somewhat similar to those of the Fluence sedan.
The new face is adopted by the Mégane’s sporty models as well, with the Mégane RS and Mégane GT both getting the new headlights, albeit with a small addition – gloss black eyelids. The lower part of the front bumper is also different from “normal” Méganes.
We don’t get to see from the photos whether the rear ends of the updated Mégane models have remained the same or have gained small refreshes as well. Renault didn’t say if the new range includes mechanical or interior updates either, but we’ll find that out on September 10, when the French carmaker will reveal the updated Mégane family at the Frankfurt show.
The new range will go on sale in Europe in the first quarter of next year, with other markets to follow shortly after.
