Two decades after the untimely death of Ayrton Senna, one of the greatest motorsport drivers to have ever graced F1, Ducati his honoring his memory with a surprise debut at the Sao Paulo Motorcycle Show in Brazil.
Created exclusively for the Brazilian market, the Ducati 1199 Panigale S Senna sports a special livery color that was chosen by Ayrton Senna himself during his visit to the Ducati factory only a few weeks before his last race in Imola in 1994.
The same theme was used later on to produce a first series of 300 motorcycles, the “916 Senna I”, designed to honor the Brazilian star in 1995, with two more versions, the “916 Senna II” and “916 Senna III” following in 1997 and 1998.
The new 1199 Panigale S Senna will be built in only 161 examples, all of which will go on sale in Brazil in June 2014. Aside from the Senna livery, the bikes will be offered with a racing exhaust system and each will have its individual production number etched on the top fork clamp.
