While the single player campaign in Grand Theft Auto 5 was always going to be a predictably story- and dialog-driven endeavor, with strong emphasis on the characters and the shocking atrocities they commit, as well as a host of mini-games and side quests to keep you busy when you’re not performing special missions, the multiplayer component promises a fresher perspective.

Strangely, it wasn’t ready when the game was first released, but now it has been activated courtesy of an updated that came out yesterday. Perhaps it wasn’t working properly at the time and they didn’t want to postpone the game anymore, so they deemed it as being the best decision – it was still down for a few hours after release, but it got fixed fairly quickly.

Now it’s here and after taking a look on the scene, I encountered lots of conflicting opinions about how it plays and the fact that each server is limited to just 16 players roaming the city at the same time – clearly not enough to take full advantage of the open world freedom, right?

By all accounts, it’s not bad, and if anything, it may be even more endearing than the single player part, as it allows you to fully customize your character, level it up and unlock new stuff to use, just like any conventional role playing game.

YouTube has been inundated with videos, but I’ve done my best to discard the boring stuff and found some insightful ones that actually shed some light on what the game is now like with the online bit activated. Check them out below!
