Spectators attending the American Le Mans Series race that took place around the Virginia International Speedway on Saturday must have been shocked to see one of the GT class Porsche 911s flying through the air after having touched another 911 prior to going into a chicane.
Both cars went off the track, one spinning like the proverbial top, and the other going airborne, nearly destroying a marshals’ post and making a camera operator’s life flash before his eyes…
According to a report from the USA Today, it turned out that nobody had been hurt (at all!), once the dust had settled and the state of shock had passed. Both drivers were able to get out of their cars relatively easily, though Eduardo Cisneros driving the number 31 car did find himself a bit high off the ground when he opened the door.
We were particularly impressed by the cameraman who genuinely didn’t flinch as cars and tires were flying all around him. Check out his heroic acts (and the footage he shot) in the video below.
