You probably remember last month’s story about the 2,000hp Lamborghini Gallardo that caught fire on the Moscow drag strip after hitting 402 km/h (250 mph). Whereas then we only saw the incident from the outside, now an onboard video of the event has surfaced and it’s even scarier.

Imagine doing 402 km/h in a Gallardo when suddenly a big explosion in the engine compartment releases a ball of fire that you can see in your rearview mirrors….and then smoke starts entering the cabin.

As a matter of fact, you don’t need any imagination for this, because the following video shows exactly what the driver experienced during the incident.

If you watch the footage in slow motion, you will see that the first explosion occurs just meters before the finish line, with the big one happening just as the driver crosses it.

Fortunately, the driver escaped with no injuries from the fire, which was caused by the engine blowing up.
