When GM said it would blow the covers off the new generation 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and its GMC twin, the Canyon, this fall, we suspected it meant the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, but one can never be sure without an official confirmation.

Today, GM made the LA Show debut official, at least for the Colorado, which it says, “will reinvent what a midsized pickup should be” and that it has been “engineered to be the most capable, most versatile and technologically advanced midsized truck in the market”.

These are some bold claims indeed, however, we’ll have to see the truck in the flesh before we pass judgment.

Details remain thin, but inside sources have said that, aside from the regular gasoline powertrains, both the new Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon will eventually be offered with GM’s 2.5-liter or 2.8-liter, four-cylinder Duramax turbodiesels in North America.
