Just last week, Subaru president Yasuyuki Yoshinaga said that the company would replace the unsuccessful Tribeca SUV with a new seven-seater model in the near future.

We don’t know yet if Subaru’s new Crossover 7 Concept that was released today at the Tokyo Motor Show is that car, but you must admit, it sure comes close, fitting the bill.

Displayed alongside the new production-intent Levorg estate and the Cross Sport concepts, the Crossover 7 is described in Subaru’s press literature as a “seven-seat SUV designed to combine the rigors of urban family use with true off-road driving capability”.

Obviously, there’s a boxer engine hiding under the hood linked to Subaru’s all-wheel drive system, but that’s all we can tell you for now about this new concept as official information remains limited at this time.
