Those super fat tires engulfing the black alloy wheels you see pictured above and below are from the upcoming 2015 Corvette Z06 that was confirmed today for a world premiere at the 2014 Detroit motor show in January.
Given all the positive publicity and press reviews that the regular 455hp (460hp with the optional sports exhaust) C7 Corvette Stingray has received in both base and Z51 trims, the expectations are rather high for the more hardcore Z06 model.
Not surprisingly, GM isn’t sharing much info on the new model at this point, simply stating that, ” it will be the most track-capable Corvette ever, designed to deliver supercar levels of performance through unique powertrain, chassis and aerodynamic features”.
There has been a lot of speculation on what type of engine will power the C7 Corvette Stingray Z06, but earlier this year, one of our sources told us that it could use the production version of the 4.5-liter turbocharged V8 previewed on the Cadillac Elmiraj, in which it produced around 500-horses.
